Q. I have deadbolts on my doors. Won't these secure my doors? A. Deadbolts are essential to properly securing doors. However, if no additional measures have been taken to reinforce the door or frame, having a deadbolt won't make much difference. Most often when a burglar uses force on a door, it is the door jamb that fails or even a poor quality deadbolt. Q. I'm usually home at night. Isn't that when most burglaries occur? A. Generally burglars will strike when the chances of being detected are low. When it comes to breaking into homes, doing so during the day is often the most opportune time. Nowadays with so many dual-income families, there is often no one home for 8 to 10 hours during the day. Coupled with the fact that many of your neighbors are also not home, empty neighborhoods are inviting targets. Unless you have a nosy or retired neighbor, the witness potential is very low during the day. Q. I have home owners insurance if I suffer a loss. Why do I need to keep criminals out? A. While insurance may replace your stolen property, it can't replace your sense of well being and security. Stolen property recovery rates are not very high when it comes to easily fenced property such as jewelry or electronic equipment. Also, home owners insurance is often limited in how much cash is covered in a loss. At Community Safety Program/ ADT, we will pay the deductible up to $500 in case of a robbery. It is also possible that the cost of your homeowners insurance could increase if you have a break-in & our alarms will decrease your chance of a break-in by as much as 80%. Q. How long will the installation take? A. Installation usually takes 4-6 hours in a standard size home. Q. What happens if the security system alarm goes off accidentally? A. By simply putting in your personal code the system will shut down. Q. Can I set the alarm at night? A. Yes, and we always advise you do. We can program the system to include only those areas of the premises that you want protected and exclude others for the 'night' setting. It is more disturbing to be burgled when you are asleep that when you are out of the house! Q. Do the Police respond to a home alarm? A. Yes! The police in most areas require a confirmation of the alarm. ADT supplies that by confirming at least 2 devices have been triggered when notifying the police and with our 2 way voice we can confirm a break-in by listening in when your alarm is triggered. ADT simply turns on the 3 way voice and if the intruder cannot identify and give a security code the police are notified that a break-in is in progress. Q. Will you design a suitable system for my budget?
A. Yes, as long as we're happy that we'd be installing a system that provides proper protection.
